Dr. Bob Palmer painted murals across the state of Oklahoma before stopping to leave some artwork behind in his city of residence. Palmer added historic scenes to the walls of several Bethany, Oklahoma buildings between 2010 and 2015, sponsored by the Bethany Improvement Foundation. This particular Bethany Centennial Mural was funded by some of the people featured in the mural’s photos. Palmer painted a series of favorite, historical locations in Bethany, from the Interurban and old water tower to Lake Overholser Bridge and Route 66. Visitors can also view Bethany schools, the Bethany Depot, the first bank and other local Bethany businesses while taking in this massive mural. The Bethany 66 Festival gathers near this mural every Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, since it serves as the perfect backdrop for all the cars shown at this annual festival.
