The Pittsburg County Genealogical and Historical Society Library holds a wealth of resources for genealogy research. Oklahoma census records from 1900-1930 and American Indian rolls for the Five Civilized Tribes are available on microfilm. Local records accessible in the library include the Pittsburg County marriage records index, school records from 1920-1930, funeral records, naturalization records from 1890-1960 and the Registry of Miners from 1908-1939. Many books are housed in the library, from books about genealogy to family histories. Records detailing the grave relocation project due to the construction of Lake Eufaula can also be found in the library.

The Pittsburg County Genealogical and Historical Society holds meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm (except for July and August) in the PCGHS Library, and the public is welcome to attend. The library has four computers with Internet access that are open to the public, and there are two volunteers at the library each day to assist in genealogy research.

The library also features a small upstairs museum the displays exhibits regarding mining, Indian artifacts and local history. The building itself is listed on the historical roll and was built in 1907.
