Rhythm & Routes Mural
In 2015, Duncan Convention & Visitors Bureau commissioned Palmer Studios Inc. to create a mural on the historic Henderson Furniture building in downtown Duncan. Palmer Studios Inc. painted this mural in tribute to important Oklahoma musicians as part of Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department’s “Rhythm & Routes” Music Trail, which details Oklahoma venues and artists. This Rhythm and Routes mural features Hoyt Axton, Oklahoma musician and actor, and his mother, Mae Boren-Axton, who wrote Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” hit song. These local musicians adorn the walls of their hometown, in celebration of Oklahoma’s rich music heritage.
