The future country singer attended Cleveland Elementary School off 23rd Street during his younger years. Vince exhibited his talent early, playing his first public show while he still attended this Oklahoma City school. In 2008, he returned to Cleveland Elementary to perform a benefit concert, raising money to renovate the school’s auditorium.

Vince Gill's alma mater honored the country superstar when it unveiled a 9.5 foot statue of him and his favorite guitar, a 1952 Fender Telecaster. This art piece has been on display since October 2014. Vince Gill received his high school diploma from Northwest Classen in 1975 before setting off for Nashville.

Stop 6: Double Stop Fiddle Shop

Vince Gill and Byron Berline, the owner of the Double Stop Fiddle Shop, have been friends since Vince joined Byron’s band Sundance during his early career. Vince has been known to stop by this shop to play guitar and perform with locals. He has also played at Byron Berline’s annual Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie.
