Celebrate 100 years of Route 66 when the Hemming's Great Race makes a stop at the National Route 66 & Transportation Museum in Elk City this June. Make plans to attend this event to see more than 100 classic vehicles ranging in years from the 1900s to the 1970s, as well as meet and greet with the drivers of this unique event. Each competitor travels the Mother Road from Illinois to California. Along the way, there will be stops for fans to get an up-close look at the cars.

Teams and cars from around the world and across the United States participate in this event, often considered a “bucket list” item for car enthusiasts. This event is not so much a race, but a challenge of following directions and the speed limit. Many of the cars will start and finish the race within one minute of each other. The purse is $160,000 divided among five classes with the overall winner earning $50,000.
