Wayman's father, Rev. Louis Tisdale, held the role of pastor at Tulsa's Friendship Baptist Church for over two decades. While attending, young Wayman idolized the bass players in the church band - he often referred to them as "the coolest cats."

Stop 12: Memorial Park Cemetery
After his passing in 2009, Wayman Tisdale was interred at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Wayman's headstone shows a basketball and bass guitar as well as a quote stating, "Wayman's smile was contagious. His quick wit and humor was infectious. A merry heart does good like a medicine." The back shows interlocking wedding bands with the names Wayman and Regina, as well as a quote that reads, "To my family, quitting is never an option."
