Mowdy Ranch Mustangs
Mowdy Ranch Mustangs
Mowdy Ranch is Oklahoma's only Bureau of Land Management Public Off-Range Pasture for wild mustangs and one of only four such ranches in the United States. Located in the beautiful hills of southeastern Oklahoma, 10 miles northeast of Coalgate on Highway 31, this 4,000 acre ranch is home to nearly 400 wild horses or “mustangs.” Plan a visit to see the wild horses for yourself on a two hour open-air UTV tour. Tours are available with advance reservation and allow guests to enjoy an up-close experience with the mustangs. You may also spot some of the fallow or sika deer who call the land home along with many native white tail deer and other wildlife. Be sure to bring your camera.
Make your trip to Mowdy Ranch even better with an overnight stay in the guest lodge. The lodge can accommodate up to 32 people. There are four suites that each sleep up to four guests and two bunk rooms that each sleep up to eight guests. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare a wonderful meal, just bring your own groceries. In addition, the lodge offers a "pub" style game room complete with a pool table, darts and other fun family games. Other amenities you will find at the lodge include a charcoal grill, fire pit (fire wood provided), volley ball court, a fishing pond and DirecTV. This is the perfect venue for your next retreat or family reunion.
Mowdy Ranch was first established in 1893 deep in the heart of the Choctaw Nation, and five generations of the Mowdy family have since called this ranch home. Originally and traditionally a cattle ranch, Mowdy Ranch is now totally dedicated to the wild mustangs. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the iconic American mustangs on a beautiful historic family ranch.
