Gather everyone up and head to the historic town of Grayson for a full day of family fun, history and culture during the Gumbo File’ Festival. The town of Grayson is located approximately halfway between Henryetta and Okmulgee and is one of 13 remaining historical Black towns in Oklahoma.

Held on the grounds of the historic Grayson Community Center, this annual celebration promises steaming bowls of fresh file' and seafood gumbo to feast on, along with homemade baked goods, all kinds of home-canned goods and turkey legs to take home. File’ (pronounced fe-lay) is a flavorful herbal powder made from the dried and ground leaves of the North American sassafras tree. In addition to all the great food, check out the antiques for sale, enjoy kids' activities, live music, purchase some raffle tickets and more. Don’t forget to visit the Grayson visitor’s center/museum and see where the late Oklahoma civil rights activist Clara Luper graduated from high school.
