Cimarron County was created in 1907 and Boise City is the county seat. Cimarron County has the unique distinction of being the only county in the United States that borders four states: Kansas, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Prior to 1890, the county was part of No Man’s Land, a land with no laws or jurisdiction located in today's current Oklahoma panhandle. Oklahoma's highest point can be found in Cimarron County in the form of Black Mesa, which stands at an elevation of 4,973 feet. Visitors to Cimarron County will enjoy searching for fossils and dinosaur tracks throughout the Black Mesa area. Camping, fishing and other activities are offered at nearby Black Mesa State Park.
